These late war mounts were intended to be an easy to produce, rigid and robust scope mount and base system that could be easily mount on the standard K98 rifle, without special sized receivers or complicated soldering and mounting techniques, that utilized the new ZF4 style of scope that was also a war expedient version of the traditional German sniper scopes. The rifle is equipped with a ZF4 extended eye relief sniper scope. ![]() The standard style of Swept-back mount has been noted on both Mauser and J.P. These swept-back mounts were produced at the very end of WWII and saw very limited use before the war ended.
